How To Learn From Your 12 Year Old Self

November 23, 2020 Nick Pritchett

“Your impatience and Hyper-focus will become your super power” THAT is what I would tell my 12 year old self.

“Don’t worry that you can’t spell. Computers will solve that for you...Oh and it’s called dysgraphia and ADHD. You are not weird, or slow, you just learn differently.”

It took me 46 years to have a name for how I think, learn, and process information. Nope. Spelling tests in school do not matter. Nor do scores on a school report that test for memory. Our education system is broken. Unless you are neurotypical.

I’ve been working on the most profound project with my client retailer francesca’s® on their new tween range #franki where we unleash the possibility for tweens. It made me realize that we have far more control in how we shape our future through the tweens in our lives.

❤️Show your true self.

❤️Unleash the real you.

❤️Don’t worry about what others think.

That’s what I’d tell Val age 12.

What about you? - What would you tell the 12year old you? I’d love to hear.

There is a lot we can learn from our 12 year old selves.

Dedicated to growing your business,

Val

How To Improve Your Chances Of Hitting Your Goals This Year

November 16, 2020 Nick Pritchett

I've recently started wearing blue light glasses, and it is the best $18 I have ever spent. By the end of a day of advising my clients via my beloved rectangle screen, my eyes became blurred and I would get a pounding headache. In a strategy session with one of my clients francesca's, I realized that blue light glasses were the latest hot wanted item. So I bought four pairs for my three daughters and me.

My headaches disappeared and all of a sudden I was able to keep focus throughout every day.

"Don't focus on this focus on that..." is one of the most powerful ways you can help your team achieve their goals.

Are you clear that all of your team are focused on the most crucial activities that will achieve the maximum results right now?

It's time to reinforce your year-end goals, confirm your priorities, remind your team that unless their activities link to accelerating your priorities they need to drop everything.

You might be surprised where your team is spending their time.

Maybe they need some blue light glasses to help focus, figuratively or literally!

Dedicated to growing your business,

Val

How To Easily Overcome Your Secret Fears And Achieve Success

November 9, 2020 Nick Pritchett

There are few fears we face in our life that truly warrant the feelings that go with them. Yet fear looms large in our ability to identify what we need to do to create a life we love and embrace rapid growth in our business.

My fear at the top of a double-diamond black ski run is different from my fear of talking about my newly discovered ADHD brain and wondering how people will react.

Real fear for me was a day back in 1993 when I was working in Rackhams department store during my corporate days in England; there was an attacker on the shop floor literally cutting the throats of my co-workers.

Real fear was when I was put on bed rest for 16 weeks when pregnant with twins and I had an 18-month old running around.

Real fear is being diagnosed with rare auto-immune condition that could have resulted in me losing my eyesight and being in a wheelchair.

I don’t usually talk about those fears because they are insignificant compared to the tragedies and difficulties others have faced. But they put into perspective the fears that consume people’s decisions to quit a job, try something new, move to a new city or country or simply say what they really think. When I am advising CEOs, board members, executives and entrepreneurs on growth strategies for their businesses, what is often behind their questions are fears like these.

Have you ever experienced any of these fears?

  • fear that you will make a mistake

  • fear you are letting your team down

  • fear that you will look needy

  • fear of trying an alternative way rather than your usual approach

  • fear that you will pick the wrong path

  • fear that your outrageous idea may not pan out

  • fear that your hiring bet may fall through.

It isn’t the same kind of fear that is life-threatening but it is success-threatening because it causes you to freeze, doubt yourself and perhaps not go as fast as you could.

Once you name it, acknowledge it, and understand what you really are concerned about you can easily overcome it.

What do you secretly fear and what is honestly causing it?

Dedicated to growing your business,

Val
